Let's Colour: Transforming communities

We’ve joined forces with MasterPeace to transform the walls that were once symbols of separation into bridges which connect people & communities.

These Let’s Colour Walls of Connection will bring both sides of the wall together into one community that celebrates unity, kindness and connection in one of the biggest community projects of its kind.

Hundreds of artists and thousands of volunteers will paint together 100 walls in 40 countries, turning them into bridges that connect, not divide people.

MasterPeace is an award-winning global grassroots non-profit and nongovernmental peace movement that organizes global & local events and innovative campaigns, to encourage the active involvement of youth from around the world in topics of social change, peace-building and community cohesion.

We’ve joined forces with SOS Children’s Villages to use education and renovation to drive a positive impact on the issue of youth unemployment. The partnership aims to reach young people of SOS Children’s Villages with our painter academies around the world. Painters training will develop valuable skills, opening up opportunities for children’s employment and independence. The initiative will also provide renovations, completed by the recently trained young painters in collaboration with AkzoNobel volunteers to transform the living spaces of SOS Children’s Villages program participants.

SOS Children’s Villages is an international non-governmental and non-denominational organization that takes care for children who have lost parental care, or who risk losing it, and is dedicated to help ensure that children become independent adults.

Let’s Colour transforms underused urban locations into sport courts, just by adding a splash of paint. The program was launched in the famous Santa Marta favela in Rio de Janeiro, and soon surfaced across the city, where paint was used to create courts for different sports: basketball, table tennis, athletic sprint, volleyball, hockey… The arenas appeared at the most unexpected locations around the metropolis, and remained as permanent installations that transform the communities and helping to make city more fun & liveable.
